I watch all these videos on youtube and elsewhere claiming a top speed of 175...sometimes even 185. The speedo is off (that's a fact) Whats the true top speed on these things? Not that I'll ever get there.

OMG :thumbdown
If you really wanna know, go find out... everyone has a different idea.
Just use a gps to find out tho, its more accurate

Im sure rider weight will make a pretty big difference at top speed. A 180lb rider might be able to take it to 175, where as a 200lb might only be able to take it to 170.

At one point over the weekend when I checked my speed, I was going exactly 88 MPH!!! I was so psyched!!!
No time travel was achieved tho.
Oh, and I thought these bikes only did like 145 tops!! I know now it's not the case, cause even with my -1/+1 and speedodrd i've seen it go faster than I could ever imagine

I actually just got back from riding, and took my GPS with me. At 80mph, the GPS read 74.7. Ill have to remember that when I go to buy a SpeedoDRD.
Is that about how off everyone else's speedo's are?

the 2008 R6 was the first factory 600cc ever to top 170mph. It went a whopping 171mph... Magazines even put it on the cover.

My 2009 R6 has reached 171MPH (Pinned). It only has a power commander and a two brothers slip on and 9000 miles. I'm 5'7 and weigh 125 pounds.

You created a new account, and resurrected an 8 year old through to say this bullshit?

I answered a thread from personal experience it may be from 2010 but people still google "R6 Top speed" and they look at these posts. You're a waste of forum space.

In 6th gear with stock gearing, the tach reads:
6000 rpms - 66 mph
7000 rpms - 77 mph
8000 rpms - 88 mph
Assuming this continues with the gearing ratio, @ 16,000 rpms stock redline (or 16,500):
16,000 rpms - 176 mph.
Rider weight will play a factor as well as losses.
The fastest I've even seen on my digital readout was 169 w/o a speedo healer.
There's a YT video with 3 guys moving out on a highway, and the guy on the R6 hit either 171 or 172.

are you kissing cousins with yamahacrazy? Hopefully its not first cousins.
Do people also google "Best 600 starter bike" too? Isnt this the kind of fodder that Facespace groups love to debate?
What do mags claim the 0 to 107mph time is on a 10 year old model? 6.8 seconds? :banned:
